This contemporary restaurant in the heart of Adliya has been serving authentic and modern Italian cuisine in a chic setting since its establishment in 2007, and is a regular with the island’s crème de la crème. Café Italia has a wealth of accolades to its name, including Time Out Bahrain’s Best Italian Restaurant Award, which is not surprising as the food here is fantastico!
The culinary team is headed up by Executive Chef Twedi Martatna, who’s kitchen magic means the food tastes exactly like bona-fida Italian just like Nonna makes it. Besides making sure their classic dishes remain as authentic as possible, these guys produce a steady stream of unique interpretations, including their Espresso Martini, Strawberry and Balsamic Cake, and Beetroot Carpaccio with melted Goat’s Cheese.
Pizza lovers will rejoice to know that the restaurant boasts a rare Neapolitan wood-fire oven, meaning that time honored favorites such as Napoletana, Margherita, Marinara and Quattro Stagioni pizzas taste exactly like they’re meant to. If you’re looking for a lighter but just as delicious option, the Goat Cheese Mango Salad and Pear Rucola Salad are some of the best salads on the island, while their creamy Tiramisu also deserves a special mention for dessert.
Cafe Italia also provides an excellent selection of international wines to accompany every dish on the menu or to be enjoyed as a pre-meal aperitif; simply ask the staff if you need a hand deciphering the wine menu, as they are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Sleek lines and geometrical shaped furniture reminiscent of the 1970s decor style coupled with the ambient lighting make for a charming and welcoming atmosphere. Diners have the flexibility of enjoying their meal indoors or outside in the small but quaint garden area.
